Localport vs Teleport
Teleport is an identity platform for infrastructure, with its own handling of SSH, Kubernetes and databases. Localport is the network layer: a private connection to a device, with your own tools on top.

Teleport is an infrastructure identity platform
- Access to servers, Kubernetes, databases and desktops
- Single sign-on, roles and access requests
- Session recording and a detailed audit log
- Runs as a cluster, self-hosted or in Teleport's cloud
Localport is the network layer
- A private connection to any port on any device
- You decide who connects, and every connection is logged
- Your own tools run over it: SSH, Ansible, database clients
- Nothing to deploy

Common questions.
Teleport details are from Teleport pricing guide, Teleport core concepts, Teleport features as published on 2 October 2026.
Is Localport a replacement for Teleport?
Only for reaching devices. Localport is the network layer and leaves sign-in to the service, session recording and privilege management to your own tools. Teleport handles those itself.
Does Localport need a cluster or a proxy to run?
No. Localport runs the service. You install the agent on each device and manage access in the dashboard.
Does Localport record sessions?
No. The access log records who connected, to which device and port, from where and for how long. The content of a session is never recorded.
Does Localport work with Kubernetes or databases?
Localport forwards any TCP port, so a database or an API server is reachable with its own client.
